For many years our work is focused on endothelial cell physiology and pathology. Endothelial cells cultured from human umbilical vein (from cord of newborns), as called HUVEC, is a model for these studies and for a large community of researchers all around the world although properties of HUVEC certainly cannot represent all the metabolic capacities and all the responses in physiopathology and toxicity related to the different types of endothelial cells found in an organism.
We recently began the proteomic study of HUVEC using the classical approach combining two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) and mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF and LC-ESI-MS/MS) after peptide mass fingerprinting (PMF).
In this web site, you will find our past works concerning endothelial cells in the Publications area, for example on the toxicity of amiodarone, of anticancer drugs inducing apoptosis, also dual effect of ciclosporin on HUVEC. The Technical area shows some pictures of our materials and those of ESPCI in Paris that we want to thank one more time for their contribution and our successful collaboration, especially for mass spectrometry and protein spot identification; you will also find a protocol for HUVEC culture. Our data on HUVEC proteomics are depicted in the 2D gels and Identifications area (identification, number of accession in database, pI and MW) There are also links to databases, softwares for PMF study, technical manuals, journals in the field of electrophoresis and proteomics, academic societies
